Mixed reaction to Maven/NYR, still second favorite match and more...

There was mixed reaction and lots of confusion over how the WWE handled Maven's match last night with Shelton Benjamin. On one hand, it put Maven over greatly as a heel and could really develop something great for the Royal Rumble or Wrestlemania even. On the other hand if it goes no where, it was essentially a HUGE setback to Maven's momentum, especially considering most people in attendence, including those who watched the ppv, believed Maven had the most heel heat of anyone the entire night. Below are some fan reactions:

George, of Toronto Maven was nothing short of brilliant on the mic; he had our whole place in stitches with his work. We all came to the conclusion that his promo was eerily similar to Rock's first Nation of Domination promo - not necessarily for content, but for crowd reaction. Brilliant stuff! Maven got some serious heel heat and Benjamin looks like a strong title holder. Well done, WWE!

Garrett Larson of Columbia Heights, MN Shelton-Maven WTF? Maven had the crowd hot and angry. He had us at home laughing and we thought it was great. Then the roll-up. Okay that sucked. No, wait, he's calling for a rematch, time to shine. T-bone suplex, pin. Huh? I don't understand who that was supposed to help, Shelton looks bad since he couldn't beat Maven last week, but now squashes him, Maven looks like a chump extraordinaire.

In other news, WWE.com's poll asks viewer's which match was their favorite. An unlikely candidate has risen to #2 as Maven vs. Benjamin is voted second-most favorite. This is odd on one hand because the match itself was only about 10 seconds. On the other hand, Maven's task of heating up the crowd worked great and had alot of people rolling, not to mention it was considered by most to have received more heat than anything else in the ppv.
