Maven & Simon Dean vs. William Regal & Tajiri

Simon and Maven come out first; Simon Dean passes Maven some sort of beverage which Maven slurps down like a 5 year being introduced to chocolate milk… Simon Dean grabbed a mic and talked about how Maven uses the Simon system “Look at those abs!” Maven started to do his best Lex Luger poses before being interrupted by the tag champs.

Maven and Regal start, Maven gets the early advantage with a headlock and a shoulder block. Maven went for another headlock which Regal reversed, tag to Tajiri. Tajiri and Maven slugged it out for a while until Maven decided to try and beat Tajiri at his own game… Maven went for a high kick but missed completely! Tajiri started to kick the living hell out of Maven with right’s and lefts and a spinning heel kick for good measure. Tajiri was leaning into Maven with some fierce chops (Maven’s chest looked bruised towards the end of the match).

Tajiri’s irish whip was reversed by Maven which allowed Simon Dean to put a boot in. Maven tried to capitalize but got caught in the tarantula! Simon Dean almost slipped off the apron trying to save Maven but just about got there. Maven had enough with Tajiri and decided to tag in Simon Dean, Dean quickly pounced on Tajiri by locking in a front face headlock, Tajiri battled out and got the hot tag to Regal. Regal cleaned house and managed to hit a t-bone suplex on Dean, Maven broke up the count at 2. Tajiri stormed into the ring and hit Maven with a sick reverse kick which sent Maven flying out of the ring… Regal then hit Dean with the high knee of doom for the 1, 2, 3!

Winners: William Regal and Tajiri

My thoughts: Very average match, Maven managed to draw some heat from the crowd and was hilarious with his Lex Luger poses. If this turns into a feud and leads to a match at WrestleMania 21 then I’m ok with Maven tagging with Simon Dean, but I have a feeling that this was just a filler.
