Maven vs. Val Venis

Ah, the standard Heat match. Venis with an armwringer to begin. Maven with a
headscissors on the mat. Back on their feet, Val applies a side headlock. Maven
elbows out of it and he stomps away on Venis. Val gets whipped into the corner.
Maven with a series of elbowdrops for a 2 count. Maven with another elbowdrop.
He rolls outside the ring and poses for the fans. Back in the ring, Maven
applies a chinlock.

Venis breaks out of it, and he hits a flurry of
clotheslines and elbows. A sit-down powerbomb gets a 2 count. Venis now with a
small package, but the ref doesn't count as Maven's shoulders aren't actually
pinned. Val with a clothesline in the corner. He follows it up with a half-
nelson slam and heads up top. Maven rolls out of harm's way (this is a growing
trend in Venis' recent matches) Maven elbows Val and hits a bulldog from the
top rope for a 2 count. A superplex attempt is blocked by Venis. Val now
connects with a fisherman's suplex for a 2 count. Val with a chop, but Maven
hits a lung buster out of nowhere for the 1-2-3.

Winner: Maven (5:25)
