Is it a push or just another poke? ECW ONS PPV preview! Written by: Stillmatic 06/10/05
With the ECW One Night Stand PPV just around the corner, many questions plague the minds of Maven's fans. Is this a legitimate push or just another poke? If WWE were to push Maven, then this is the perfect time. Maven has proven his worth… He's paid more dues than any other newcomer to walk through the WWE ranks in the last 5 years. Maven has shown his limitless potential on more than one occasion. His in-ring work has improved drastically and his mic skills make some of the WWE "stars" look like amateurs. The question that I ask myself every week is "What's holding Maven back?" When you look at other "rookies" like Cena, Orton and Shelton Benjamin, WWE have created opportunities for them to shine at the highest level with both Cena and Orton capturing WWE heavyweight titles and Shelton Benjamin capturing the Intercontinental title. Ignorant people can argue that Maven didn't posses the skills of an Orton or Cena but if he didn't posses them back in 2002/2003, he sure as hell has caught up. The ECW One Night Stand PPV is Maven's chance to shine, but to be brutally honest, I don't see it happening… This week on RAW, Maven was team WWE's "whipping boy" with Maven being surrounded and pummelled by WWE rejects and straight up "never good enough to make the big time wastes of spaces because Vinnie Mac said so jobbers!!" Various RAW tag teams could split up due to the ECW ppv, including Maven and Simon Dean. Simon Dean will be appearing under his old Alias "Nova" and with Maven poised to be at the ECW ppv representing team WWE, only time will tell how it will pan out. The best case scenario in my opinion would be for Maven and Simon Dean to split up, Dean moves to SmackDown and Maven gets a real midcard push on RAW. So with another so called "opportunity" around the corner, Maven has to be ready for anything. The ECW one night stand PPV could just be another job or it could be Maven's gateway to WWE stardom.
