No Draft. No Trade. Now What?

Well, it's official. No shake-up for Maven's career in the 2005 WWE Draft. The trade deadline has passed and now more questions loom over what will happen with Maven in the coming months.

As of midnight Thursday, it was official that Simon Dean, Maven's current tag team partner (and arguably the only thing going creative-wise for Maven right now) was traded to SmackDown and left fans wondering what's next?

Some fans are hoping this will lead to the WWE finally giving Maven a legitimate push on the Raw brand and even a chance at the Intercontinental Championship, which eluded him several months ago in the fatally flawed feud with Shelton Benjamin - a ball the WWE definately dropped.

Other's think Maven might form a new tag team, possibly with one of the heels that were traded to the Raw brand.

Even worse, some people think a return to "face" is in store for the former Hardcore champion, which at this point would be career suicide.

It seems as if the WWE has forgotten about Maven's night as General Manager on Raw - for Maven fans - arguably one of the best nights of his career and one of the more exciting Raw shows in the past year, not to mention the breath taking main event he had with Triple H. It seemed like it would be just the beginning of great things for the young Maven but instead they have him job to Gene Snitsky who was creatively dead already and then turn him heel the next week against Eugene. BAD MOVE. WRONG TIMING. WRONG EVERYTHING.

Regardless, Maven made the best of the opportunity and received some legitimate heel heat from the crowd and still does on occasion but with no creative direction, who knows what is in store for Maven in the future.

The worst rumor circulating so far is that Maven might be part of a group of wrestlers being released due to the WWE's poor 2nd Quarter earnings. Layoffs have already taken place in the office of World Wrestling Entertainment and many insiders believe talent cuts are coming up next, especially with the expected revenue loss of the WWE going back to USA Networks and losing money to leave Spike TV. So at this point - anything can happen.

We invite you to participate in our current poll and tell us what you think will happen with Maven next. Also feel free to send your comments to michael@mavenhuffman.com and I might use them for the website. Also, don't forget to join up on the official fan forums if you haven't already and talk to other fans about Maven's WWE future.
