What's next for Maven now that he's free from WWE?

It's a sad day for Maven fans as WWE.com confirmed Tuesday July 5th that it had released 8 WWE Talents including Maven.

While some may argue that it wasn't unexpected considering his tag team partner was "traded" to SmackDown and he was losing to the likes of Val Venis and Viscera on Raw and Heat - many wondered when the bleeding would stop. Furthermore, it had been whispered for over a month that cuts were coming up due to World Wrestling Entertainment's poor 2nd Quarter earnings report, as I eluded to in my article last week.

What makes this all the more excrutiating for Maven fans is the fact that knowing WWE Raw Divas will get more airtime on the network than one of the premiere young talents on their roster did. Apparently that doesn't even phase the WWE as they are continuing on with business as usual.

Apparently the WWE did this for more than just money saving. Maven was in the bottom-tier as far as salaries go, though no official report on how much his contract was worth has been made. It's almost a given that Daniel Puder, the million dollar Tough Enough winner and Christy Hemme, the Raw Diva winner arguable make higher contract dollars than Maven did at signing, and again Maven was a top young athlete in the WWE.

People wonder what went wrong - things were going so good for Maven at the beginning of the year. He was on pay-per-views, he was main-eventing Raw as General Manager and finally got his heel turn against Eugene. Some might argue that's where the downfall began. First, the WWE failed to jump on Maven's momentum from his night as Raw GM and had him job to Gene Snitsky the next week and then proceed to do a half-assed heel turn the next week on Raw. While Maven capitalized on the chance and ran with it, the WWE missed the boat so to speak.

As for Maven's future, everything is still uncertain. I have yet to personally speak with Maven about the situation or his future plans but as soon as I do, you can expect to read about it on the only official website of Maven Huffman, former WWE Superstar and one of the most exciting young free-agents the world of professional wrestling will ever see.

Thanks,
Michael
